3 subtle yet powerful ways to align your life
Life feels juicy right now, and it’s this juiciness that shows me that I’m living in alignment.
It took me a while to get here, with many twists and turns along the way, but all of those experiences layered upon one another to raise me up to where I am now.
Life isn’t perfect, it never will be, but it feels calm and I feel content, which is exactly how I want to feel. I’m not chasing anything, my life feels delicious and I’m happy to carry on floating downstream.
Most of us go through life wishing that we had the one big thing that would transfrom our life for the better; a certain person that we fall in love with, a sudden abundance of wealth, the big idea, the perfect home, a different job, moving abroad.
I felt exactly the same, yet I’ve come to realise that it’s not the big things that change our life, it’s the small things that have the most powerful effect.
It’s the teeny, tiny, incremental adjustments that can have such a powerful effect as they ripple through our lives, which is exactly what I’m going to share with you now.
What does it mean to align your life?
It means bringing all aspects of your whole being into a sense of coordination and balance in such a way that it enriches your life on multiple different levels, bringing joy, love, abundance and purpose.
Ultimately, to live in alignment means to live in a place of acceptance of who you are and where you are in life. It means being in the absolute presence of your reality and embracing every part of it, whether it’s comfortable or not.
This means taking responsibility for yourself, which is the most empowering thing you could possibly do, and coming into a state of aparigraha.
The more we fall into alignment with who we are, where we are and what we are doing, the smoother life becomes.
It sounds so simple but it’s like slipping into a stream and letting ourselves be carried by the water rather than grasping onto the bank or wanting to be further downstream, or wishing the water was warmer or that we had a lilo to float on.
There are many different ways to come into alignment, allowing yourself to float downstream, but here are my favourite three that I’ve found to be the most powerful in terms of helping me to align with the truth of who I am so that life can be even more beautiful and joyous than it already is.
Surround yourself with people that light you up
The people we surround ourselves with have a powerful influence on our energy, wellbeing and sense of joy. Yet often, we don’t realise how impactful they are because it happens on such a subliminal level.
Everyone carries a particular set of energies, set up by the Soul Contract they came to earth with, which means that there are some people we’ll clash with and others that we’ll feel nourished by and often there’s a huge variation of subtleties in between.
The trick is to take notice of how you feel around being with certain people. You want to spend time with those people who leave you feeling light, joyful and peaceful and avoid those who you don’t feel safe to be yourself around.
We all know the type of person, I call them energy vampires, that leave us feeling depleted and low, but we also need to be aware of spending time with people who don’t activate and catalyse us.
Surrounding ourselves with people who motivate, inspire and encourage us to be the best versions of ourselves is an incredibly powerful way to align our life.
If there’s a relationship or friendship that doesn’t light you up, walk away, it’s really simple.
Let the dead wood go otherwise there will be no room for the new to come in. Make space for these incredible souls to come in and nourish and support you as you nourish and support them in an equal exchange of energy.
Create heaven on earth
I love the song “ooo heaven is a place on earth” because it really is and helps me to remember to keep consciously creating my own version of heaven on earth.
It’s all too easy to forget to craft a space for ourselves that feels like our home yet it is a hugely powerful way to align ourselves and our lives by the energies that our physical space infuses within us.
My home, which I only moved into in January, is my heaven on earth and where I feel so good, so aligned and so powerful, because I designed it that way. I use incense and fresh flowers to make my home fragrant. I have soft lighting to keep me feel calm and balanced. I use prints, fabrics, photos and colours to infuse certain energies into my space.
I have an abundance of green plants and clean my home regularly, alongside lots of energy clearing techniques from Divine Healing, that keeps my space feeling fresh and healthy.
I also use music to enhance my living space, using beautiful healing music that carries its own unique frequencies that change my energy as well as the energy of my space, depending on what I listen to.
Lastly, only buy the things that lift you up and give you joy, then surround yourself with them so you can create your own cocoon that is a pure reflection of your spirit.
This too will bring you into alignment with yourself and your life.
Feel into yourself, mind, body and soul
Most of us numb our feelings and suppress our truth, because we find it too painful to bring to the surface or are completely unaware that we’ve buried it.
Instead of feeling our emotions and being comfortable with whatever arises for us on a day-to-day basis, we tend to fall into avoidance. This can look like binge watching TV, drinking, eating, over-exercising, working too hard, scrolling on our phones, rushing around, shopping and all other manner of self-sabotaging habits.
It’s ok, I do all of these things too, but this is where we can begin to find alignment because once we become aware that we might have unprocessed emotions lurking under the surface, we can begin to allow them to come up.
This is all about tuning into all parts of ourselves; our emotional wounds, our physical needs and the whispers of our soul, which is such a beautiful way to live.
Taking the time to connect with yourself is challenging but hugely rewarding. When we become conscious of our emotions and what our physical bodies are trying to communicate with us, we can begin to take inspired action.
That might look like sleeping when you feel tired, taking yourself on a walk when you feel stressed, sharing a fear you have with a friend. There are infinite ways to truly care for your being and the more you do this, through getting still, listening and connecting, the more you come into alignment with yourself and your life.
